Private Pay

Private Pay Home Care in New Hampshire — Simple, Transparent, No Insurance Required

Private pay home care lets your family start services on your own schedule — without insurance restrictions, prior authorizations, or coverage limits. NH Care Center serves private-pay families across New Hampshire with the same RN-led care, family-owned attention, and HIPAA-compliant infrastructure we provide to every client.

What private pay covers

With private pay, you can use NH Care Center for any service we offer — from a few hours of weekly companionship to round-the-clock skilled nursing. There are no insurance carriers deciding what's covered or how many hours you're approved for. You choose the level of care, and we deliver it.

  • Personal care — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, mobility support
  • Companionship & supervision — particularly for clients with dementia, fall risk, or family caregiver burnout
  • Homemaking — meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, errands, transportation
  • Respite care — scheduled relief for family caregivers, by the hour, day, or week
  • Skilled nursing — RN assessments, medication management, chronic disease monitoring, post-hospital coordination
  • Overnight & live-in care — extended coverage options for families needing round-the-clock support

Why families choose private pay with NH Care Center

No insurance restrictions

You decide the hours, the schedule, and the level of care. No prior authorization. No coverage caps.

Faster start

Care can typically begin within days of your assessment — no insurance approval timeline to navigate.

Full continuum under one roof

Companionship today, personal care next month, skilled nursing if needs change — same agency, same team.

RN-led from day one

Every plan of care is developed and supervised by a Registered Nurse — Mina Dhamala-Thatal, RN, our Administrator and Director of Nursing.

Family-owned, locally founded

Based in Concord, owner-led, and accountable to the community we serve. The people on our website are the people you'll meet.

Honest pricing in writing

Every cost is disclosed in a written estimate before care begins, as required by NH law (RSA 151:21-b). No surprises.

How private pay works in practice

  • Four-hour shift minimum Our standard minimum visit is four hours. This lets us match caregivers consistently and gives your loved one continuity of care.
  • Weekend & holiday rates Weekend, overnight, and holiday rates differ from weekday rates. Your written estimate breaks out each shift type so you know exactly what to expect.
  • Overnight & live-in options We offer overnight (awake or sleep) and live-in arrangements for families needing extended coverage. Your RN assessment will help determine the right model for your situation.
  • Caregiver matching We match caregivers to clients based on care needs, personality, language, and schedule. If a match isn't working, contact us — we'll work to find a better fit with no consequence to your care continuity.

Payment methods accepted

We accept personal check, ACH/bank transfer, and major credit cards. For families using long-term care insurance reimbursement, we provide all documentation your carrier requires and can coordinate direct billing with most LTCi carriers.

Other funding sources to consider

Private pay isn't the only path. Depending on your family's situation, you may also qualify for one of these programs — and we serve clients under all of them:

Frequently asked questions

Every family's situation is different — the hours, the type of care, the home, the schedule, the complexity of any clinical needs. After your free in-home RN assessment, you'll receive a detailed written estimate before any care begins. New Hampshire law (RSA 151:21-b) requires this written disclosure, and we honor that fully.

Often within days. Because there's no insurance prior authorization or Medicaid approval process to wait through, private pay typically starts faster than any insurance-funded option. Once your RN assessment is complete and the care plan is in writing, we can begin scheduling right away.

No. Private-pay care is scheduled in increments you choose. You can scale hours up or down as needs change, pause care, or end services at any time. We ask for reasonable notice so we can manage caregiver schedules fairly, but you're never locked in.

Yes. Many of our clients use a combination — for example, CFI Waiver covers authorized hours during the week and private pay covers additional evening or weekend hours. Long-term care insurance benefits often run out before care needs do, and families bridge with private pay. Your RN assessment can help map out the most cost-effective approach.

Yes — our standard minimum is four hours per shift. This lets us match caregivers to clients fairly and consistently. Live-in and overnight options are available for families needing extended coverage.

You don't need to change agencies. Because NH Care Center is licensed for both medical and non-medical care under one provider, we can adjust your care plan as needs evolve — from a few hours of companionship today, to personal care, to skilled nursing oversight if needed later. Same team, same care plan, no transition gaps.
